Last year Google announced that it was working on its own free operating system called “Google Chrome OS”. Now in yesterdays
Google event, Google previewed Chrome OS running on a 12.1-inch laptop and these laptops are called as CR-48.
The CR-48 is only available through a Google pilot program. The Cr-48 laptops features 12.1 inch screens, full-sized keyboards and touch pads, integrated 3G from Verizon, eight hours of battery life and eight days of standby time. Also it weighs 3.8lb, there are no spinning disks, the caps lock has been replaced with a web search button and it is not supposed to get too hot.
Chrome notebooks are designed to reach the web instantly , the OS will be stored in read-only memory and also Chrome OS can go from standby mode to full operation in a few seconds.
In the first half of next year Chrome notebooks will be available for sale from Acer and Samsung. More manufacturers will follow. Also, Chrome OS is designed to work across a wide range of screen sizes and form factors, enabling its partners to deliver computing devices beyond notebook.
