Reinstalling the Operating System from time to time is not a bad idea, because we get faster performance from our PC which is slowing down day by day as we install and uninstall more programs. Usually I will reinstall my operating system (XP) for every six months, for my Desktop PC.
Reformatting hard disk and reinstalling OS, that’s just half of the job have done. The next 50 percent include installation of drivers and all the other software that you have. But a big headache at the time of reinstalling operating system is to remember and install what programs were installed previously. If you don’t have the disc you need to connect to the Internet to download all the software that you have.
This is where a program like Smart Installer Pack comes into play, it is a collection of “essential” programs to avoid having to download them one by one.

Smart Installer Pack is a free download for Windows that gives you an installer application, and 24 good, open source and freeware applications (most common software we normally install in our PC.)
The Smart Installer Pack comes with the following applications:
- Yahoo Messenger
- Yahoo Widgets
- Skype
- Google Earth
- Winamp
- Firefox
- Bittorent
- Gmail Notifier
- Rocket Dock
- Codecs Pack
- Adobe Flash Player
- Apple QuickTime
- SunJava
- Adobe Reader
- WinRar
- Open Office
- Daemon Tools
- ThunderBird
- Gimp
- Picasa
- Avira Antivirus
- Google Chrome
- CCleaner
- KmPlayer
Personally I would like to have open source applications like VLC media player or Media Player Classic, K-Lite Codec Pack, 7Zip and FoxIt Reader in this pack. Still, Smart Installer Pack is another good option for quickly getting many excellent applications that you can use without lots of searching and downloading.
Note:
You would have to click on each application manually since the installers are interactive. I am nit picking but I am pretty sure they would look into that in future versions.
