Last night Sony released a PS3 firmware 3.56 that adds a Security patch. Sony didn’t provide any information what this patch contains, may be it will patch recent Jailbreak exploit. It is conformed that PS3 3.56 kills homebrew and installing it over with current existing CFW is not possible.
If you have jailbroken your PS3 3.55 console using Geohot PS3 3.55 CFW and want to retain, it is highly recommended that you do not update to firmware 3.56 at all. However another PS3 Jailbreak developer is working to release 3.56 CFW, you can get updates from his Twitter.
