Process Lasso 5 released
BitSum Technologies released a new version (v 5) of Process Lasso, a process automation and optimization utility. Process Lasso 5 brings several new features to the excellent software, which aims to improve PC’s stability and responsiveness by automatically adjusting processes and applications that take more resources.
For example if a certain process running in high priority and takes more memory or CPU cycles, then its priority will be automatically reduced by Process Lasso 5, but it doesn’t mean it will stop th process from running, only it will limit the resource consumption of programs that are making unreasonable demands of the processor and memory.
Process Lasso 5 :
Process Lasso 5 is NOT yet another task manager, it mproves system responsiveness during periods of high CPU loads. It does this through dynamic adjustments to process priorities. and this feature is called ProBalance, dynamic priority optimization.
In addition to ProBalance, there are countless features allowing the user to take full automated control of the processes on their PC. You can have a wide range operations performed, or settings applied, each time a process is run. You can choose at what priority processes should run, and which CPUs should be assigned to them. You can also disallow certain processes from running, log all processes run, automatically restart processes when they terminate or reach a resource consumption threshold, limit the number of instances, and much more. You can even indicate processes that should induce entrance into the High Performance power scheme and/or prevent the PC from sleeping. A gaming mode allows for easy process priority optimization for avid gamers.
Process Lasso 5 adds a large assortment of new features, including I/O Priorities, Default Power Schemes, Automated Updates, Hyperthreaded Avoidance, improved efficiency and several hundred smaller changes. Interested users can take a look at all changes at the Process Lasso change Log.

- Compatible with all editions of Windows 2000, XP, 2003, 2008, Vista, and Windows 7.
Balance process priorities (or CPU affinities) in a safe, effective manner to improve PC responsiveness during high loads and prevent system stalls and micro-lags..
Set ‘default’ (persistent, sticky) priorities and CPU affinities for your processes, allowing you to tweak the way in which they are executed
Terminate select processes any time they are found to be running
Terminate, restart, or change CPU affinity when a specified threshold is met
Limit processes to a specified number of instances
Optimize your multi-core processor to make the most efficient use of your CPUs (cores). It also offers logical core avoidance to improve performance of certain applications on HyperThreaded CPUs.
For Vista and above you can set the current or default/persistent I/O priority of processes
Set the power scheme to automatically change to ‘High Performance’ when certain processes are running, then change back when they exit. Save energy, or increase performance on-demand!
Process lasso unique algorithm monitors system responsiveness with amazing accuracy
This stand-alone background process enforces process rules and ProBalance. This allows for minimal resource utilization.
Memory usage by the app is typically under 1MB! (depends on system)
