NETGEAR WNDR4700 Media Storage Router launched

Netgear today at  Consumer Electronics Show (CES ) 2012 in Las Vegas revealed  WNDR4700 Media Storage Router – a premium router with an integrated NAS device, it has received the CES 2012 Innovations Design and Engineering Award.

The NETGEAR Media Storage Router combines the best-in-class N900 WiFi router with data and media storage functionality. Delivering 450 + 450 WiFi speed and ultimate range, it is the ideal backup and storage solution for devices like notebooks, iPads, tablets, smart phones, PCs, and Macs.

The NETGEAR Media Storage Router priced at $299, comes with an integrated 2TB hard drive that is consumer-upgradable at any time and  users can swap out the hard drive with a larger-capacity or faster one. The WNDR4700 is the first router with USB 3.0 ports, which supports storage device and a multifunction printer. Like other NAS boxes, the Media Storage Router lets you access files over the internet as well, giving you your own personal cloud storage.

The Netgear WNDR4700 works with Macs and PCs, and can interface with the Apple Time Machine natively, for even more storage.  It also offers the ability to run downloadable applications from the NETGEAR Smart Network App Store. NETGEAR has also announced a media app for iOS and Android devices that enables consumers to use their smartphones or tablets to manage and stream media files stored on the router to any DLNA-enabled device in the home.
