Microsoft Edge for Android Now Supports Extensions

Posted by

Now Microsoft Edge for Android supports browser extensions—a big innovation that might change mobile browsing—and has finally closed the gap between desktop and mobile capabilities.

Thanks to this much-anticipated update, Android users can now personalize their web experience on the go with ad-blockers, password managers, dark mode enhancers, and productivity boosters.

With the introduction of full extension functionality in 2025, Microsoft Edge for Android has surpassed Chrome, signaling a significant change in mobile browsing.

Why This Matters for Mobile Users?

The ability to install extensions has long been an area where mobile browsers have fallen behind their desktop counterparts, severely restricting personalization and efficiency.

Users of Android now have unprecedented control over their browsing experience, as Microsoft Edge joins a select group of mobile browsers that support extensions, including Kiwi and Firefox.

All you have to do now is update your Android phone’s Edge browser to the newest stable build (134.0.3124.57), and you’ll be able to install extensions directly from the browser.

  3. Browse the Store: Next in the menu, select “Extensions” and then go to the Microsoft Edge Add-ons stor to see supported extension.
  4. Install & Activate: In order to install and activate the extension of your choice, first click “Get” on it. Then, click “Add” to confirm.

After installation, users can manage their extensions, toggle them on and off, and make any necessary adjustments to their settings.

Supported Extensions

At the moment, there are 22 extensions available in Edge’s mobile extension store. Among these, you can find well-known apps such as Keepa, NordVPN, Bitwarden, Dark Reader, and Tampermonkey.

Limitations:

Edge mobile’s extensions are currently in beta, with a growing catalog compared to desktop, but older Android devices may lag with heavy extensions.

Edge vs. Chrome: Who Wins in 2025?

Although Chrome is still the go-to browser for Android, Edge has the upper hand thanks to its extension support. There is now a strong incentive for users who want advanced customization to switch.
