Amazon India reduced the prices of Kindle fire tablets, now you can get the 16 GB version of  7-inch Kindle Fire HD Tablet  for RS 11,999 , earlier  this tablet was priced at RS 15,999. Also 32 GB  version of the tablet price was reduced from Rs 18,999 to  RS 15,999. But 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD tablet  price was not reduced and price is RS 21,999.

This move will make Kindle fire tablets much cheaper when compared to  Nexus 7 devices sold  by Google play  India store, further we can relate this price cut-down with the launch of next-generation kindle fire devices. It’s expected that in few days Amazon is going to launch Kindle Fire HD 2  tablet  to compete with Google Nexus 7 2013 version.

Kindle Fire HD India

Although Kindle Fire HD Tablets are  based on Android OS, but they are not yet popular in India because of the Amazon’s closed eco-system, I hope the Cut Down of Prices  will increase the popularity of the Kindle devices.

About Kindle Fire HD Tablet:

Kindle Fire HD Tablet has 7-inch 1280×800 resolution HD LCD screen with 10-point multi-touch and is available in two variants 16-GB and 32-GB. The Kindle Fire HD  has 1GB of RAM and runs on the TI OMAP 4460 chipset which features a dual-core Cortex-A9 processor clocked  at 1.2GHZ.

Amazon has tweaked the Kindle’s processor to deliver better browsing and Javascript performance, the dual-core CPU has almost 40 percent faster memory bandwidth than the Tegra 3 processor.

The graphics processor used here is the PowerVR  SGX540 GPU running at 384MHz, the device  display uses One Glass Solution Technology which helps to reduce glare and improves colour saturation and viewing angles. This is done by reducing the gap between the main display panel and the touch sensor and combining them both into a single layer of glass.

On the descreption of the tablet, Amazon will not  reveal that Kindle Fire HD is running on Google’s Android OS, it will just mention it as “Popular Games and apps”. Although the 7-inch tablet runs on Android 4.0 Icream Sandwich OS, but you will not recognize it because the OS features are heavily customized and Amazon’s own UI.So for apps and games you will be directed to Amazon app store.

On the connectivity front, the tablet features only Wi-Fi to let you connect to the Interenet. The Wi-Fi module is of the dual-band(2.4 GHz + 5 GHz),dual-antenna type that incorprates two antennas instead of one for better speed and bandwidth.

On 16GB version, you will get 12.6GB of usable storage space, while 32GB version gives you around 26.9GB of free space.Similar to Nexus devices, there are no slots for memory cards to expand storage space, but you will get 5GB of cloud storage for free when you register the tablet with Amazon.
Other features:

The Kindle Fire HD has strong plastic chasis with matter finished exteroir, the front panel has 1.3 Mega-pixel HD camera and the rear panel has two stero Dolby speakers, the rear panle surface is fully ruberised, which helps more grip to the tablet.

On the right side you can spot power switch, volume switch, 3.5mm audio connector and at the bottom of the tablet you will spot micro USB port and micro HDMI port, the tablet ships with a micro USB cable and power charger is not included, you have to buy it. But the micro USB cable will be enough to charge the tablet by connceting to PC.

Lastly, I have to say that Kindle Fire HD 7″ is powered by 4400 mAh, according to Amazon the tablet will last for 11 hours with continous usage.
