If Mac OS X does not have enough Spotlight and Quicksilver, Google now gives us another option: Quick Search Box, a search engine and application launcher developed by Nicholas Jitkoff, the developer of Quicksilver.
Yesterday google announced a small program for mac,the Quick Search Box, which is a marvel.
Like Quicksilver, Google Quick Search not only searches for and launches files and applications—it also can drill down into content and perform context-specific actions.

So, for example, Google Quick Search indexes my Address Book contacts; if I perform a quick search to pull up my contact card, I can hit Tab to drill down into possible actions to perform—like composing an email or starting an IM chat.
From Google: “This app is very experimental, but through it you will be able to see many of the areas we are exploring: contextual search, actions, and extensibility. It is by no means feature-complete, but is a very good indication of things to come.
Google says the open-source quick search box for Macs is still in the experimental(beta) stage. “This Mac version is much more experimental than its iPhone sibling, Google Mobile App, and through it you will be able to see many of the areas we are exploring: contextual search, actions, and extensibility. It is by no means feature-complete, but is a very good indication of things to come.”
It has an active set of developers backing it, and will definitely improve beyond what QuickSilver ever offered. Add in a bunch of useful plugins and QSB can be the next big thing on the Mac. For more info and a link to download Quick Search Box visit the project page
I preferred the look and feel of Quicksilver, but the QSB definitely looks like something to keep an eye on.
