In March month Ramakanth reported rumors about Google TV. Now Google on day 2 of it’s ongoing Google I/O 2010 developers conference it officially announced Google TV that aims to integrate web and TV together,targeting 4 billion worldwide television users. So with Google is bringing Web to TV.
“The project started 2½ years ago, with a vision of a walled garden of TV-optimized web services. But the landscape keeps shifting, particularly in the capabilities of mobile devices. The only solution big enough for the problem is to bring the whole web to your TV,” said Vincent Dureau, who’s in charge of Google TV.
As we already reported, Google TV is based on the Android platform and With Google Chrome built in, you can access all of your favorite websites and easily move between television and the web.It uses an Intel Atom CE4100 system-on-a-chip processor and it will be availble in two ways first with a new TV with built-in access, or from set-top box,Google is partnering with DISH Network for the launch of Google TV.
Google is working together with Sony and Logitech to put Google TV inside of televisions, Blu-ray players and companion boxes. These devices will go on sale this fall, and will be available at Best Buy stores nationwide.
Also Google is Challenging web developers to optimize their websites for Google TV today and to come up with Android apps designed specifically for the TV experience.Soon it will release the Google TV SDK and web APIs for TV so that developers can build even richer applications and distribute them through Android Market.By summer of 2011, Google TV will go open source.
