Google allows Multiple Account Sign-In

Posted by

So far we are using separate browsers or addons like CookieSwap to login to 2 or more Gmail or Google accounts, well now you no need to do this, because Google is officially introducing a new feature called Multiple Account Sign-In,that allows you to sign in to multiple Google accounts in the same browser. Currently Multiple sign-in features only works for Gmail, Google Sites, Google Reader, Google Docs,Google Code and Google Calendar.

How to enable Multiple Account Sign-In?

So far this feature isn’t publicly available, which means it is not officially announced by Google. However you can enable this by going through following below steps

  1. First Sign-in to your Gmail or Google account and visit multiple sign-in settings page.
  2. Note: Some times this page is displayed as invalid, I tried twice and saw the original page

  3. Now you will see a web page similar to below image, by default it is off, so Select On to enable the multiple sign-in feature.
  4. Now Select all the check boxes in multiple sign-in list, then Click Save changes.
  5. Now whenever you login to your Gmail or Google account a triangle should appear next to your email address in the top-right corner of the page as shown in below image.

If you want to check whether multiple sign-in is enabled, or disabled you can visit your Google account page or your multiple sign-in settings page and see the status.

According to Google,if you use multiple sign-in, the first account you sign in to will be your default account. If you visit other Google products that don’t support multiple accounts after you’ve signed in, you will automatically sign in to your default account for that product. If you sign out of any Google product while signed in to any account, you will be signed out of all your Google Accounts at once.

Coming to the Limitations of this feature, currently only certain Google services are supported, and if use this feature  Offline Gmail and Calendar will be disabled.
