Firefox 6 Beta released

Firefox 6 beta has been released just few days after releasing Firefox 5, as we already mentioned in our previous post Mozilla is closely following Chrome release cycle. So we can except a new version every few days with few changes and features.


Version 6.0 of Firefox brings number of changes, improvements and bug fixes. Main changes in this new version are he built-in verification tool for plug-ins like Adobe Flash, better memory management for the Panorama grouping feature, a Chrome-style Scratchpad for testing out JavaScript snippets, and a new window for fine-tuning Web site permissions.

What’s new in Firefox 6 Beta ?

  • The address bar now highlights the domain of the website you’re visiting
  • Streamlined the look of the site identity block
  • Added support for the latest draft version of WebSockets with a prefixed API
  • Added support for EventSource / server-sent events
  • Added support for window.matchMedia
  • Added Scratchpad, an interactive JavaScript prototyping environment
  • Added a new Web Developer menu item and moved development-related items into it
  • Improved usability of the Web Console
  • Improved the discoverability of Firefox Sync
  • Reduced browser startup time when using Panorama

According to Mozilla the final version version of Firefox 6 is scheduled to be released on August 16, 2011. Now Firefox 6 Beta is available for download for Windows,Mac, Linux and Android platforms.Early adopters can now download the Beta from here.
