Dragon Go : Siri-like Android app

Dragon Go, a Siri-like app for Android has been released by Nuance Communications,the popular voice recognition software corporation whose technology powers Siri for the iPhone 4S. Dragon Go brings voice recognition to Android platform and it is now available at Android Market for Free.

Although Android  has great built-in voice search system and there are several alternatives(  like Vlingo ) in the Android Market that come close to Siri, but they fail to deliver sir like experience  iPhone users had and Dragon Go app tries to fill that app,So no doubt it will  best Siri alternative for Android. But  Dragon Go is input-only,Unlike Apple’s Siri the app doesn’t speaks back to the user.

Rather than offering simple voice dictation for search queries, this free app offer better search results by using Nuance’s Dragon voice recognition technology with natural language understanding, unique analytical tools, and elements of artificial intelligence. So the app not only hears what you say, but actually understands what you mean.  It immediately returns the most relevant content front and center on the Dragon Carousel, with additional relevant content from complementary providers.


Dragon Go app  gives consumers direct access to over 200 of the most trusted and reliable destinations for mobile content simply by using their voice – including AccuWeather, Ask.com, Bing, Dictionary.com, ESPN, Facebook, Fandango, Last.fm, LiveNation, Milo.com, OpenTable, Pandora ® internet radio, Rotten Tomatoes, Spotify, Twitter, Wikipedia, Wolfram|Alpha, Yelp, YouTube, Yahoo! and many others.

Dragon Go! features the largest direct-access content ecosystem in mobile today.Consumers can say virtually anything and immediately jump to relevant destinations.  For example:

  • “What’s the best Thai food near me,” and be taken to the Yelp tab for local reviews, or flip over to the Phone tab to quickly call to find out about any specials on the menu that evening.
  • “Reservations for two at Slanted Door in San Francisco,” to be taken directly to OpenTable to book a table for dinner, or scroll over to the Maps tab to find out how to get there from where you are now.

Dragon Go is available in Android market, but the app is limited to U.S only. However interested users outside U.S can directly download Dragon Go APK from here(com.nuance.dragon-1.apk)  or use Market Enabler to fool Market that you are using device with an US carrier like “USA T-Mobile” and  download the app.
