Google Chrome for Android Released

Three years after launch of Chrome desktop web-browser, finally Google released chrome for Android devices. Today Google officially released a free beta version of Chrome for Android  in Android market and it is available for download, but this beta version is limited to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) devices.

Chrome for Android includes the desktop version’s V8 JavaScript engine, gesture-based controls for moving among multiple tabs, synchronizes with the desktop version of Chrome, and shuts out plug-ins including Adobe Systems’ Flash Player and Google’s own Native Client.

This is a big moment for us,” said Sundar Pichai, Google’s senior vice president for Chrome and Apps. “The world is going mobile at a pretty phenomenal rate. Using the Web on a mobile device I think is in its early stages, and we think this a big step toward where we’re headed.”

Chrome for Android brings many of the things you’ve come to love about Chrome to your Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich phone or tablet. Like the desktop version, Chrome for Android Beta is focused on speed and simplicity, but it also features seamless sign-in and sync so you can take your personalized web browsing experience with you wherever you go, across devices.
