With a weight of 225g compared to 239g, the new smartphone is notably slimmer and lighter than its predecessors.
The textured layer on the back and the narrowed bezels—both of which are visible but not tactile—are pleasant touches. Also, the corners are now considerably smoother, so your palms will have a more pleasant grip.
An AI wallpaper feature, similar to the ones on the Pixel 8 series, is available. You can customize the prompt somewhat (alter the backdrop, tone, and “inspiration”), and you can also select from a few pre-set subjects.
Using a Stable Diffusion model on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Asus’ AI wallpaper generator operates on-device, unlike Google’s version. The AirTriggers feature is still available.
You can find the brand new AeroActive Cooler X clip-on ROG Phone 8 models. Reducing the rear cover temperature by up to 26°C, it now claims 1.2X greater thermal efficiency and is 29% smaller.
Mini LED display on the back of the ROG Phone 8 Pro versions shows time, battery life, notifications, and more (Better than Nothing Glyph). The ROG Phone 8 has an eye-catching RGB logo.
