Frankly,i usually think or dream  that Google will have placed it’s severs in large rooms with full of mainframes.To my surprise when i read this article from cnet ,where it reveals Google’s Server secrets.
Check out above image ,instead of rooms full of mainframes,they are using simply a common tower computer modified for their purposes,which indicate their cost reducing policy.They Don’t buy their servers from any one like Sun, IBM ,but they design and build servers on their own.What is surprising is that the hardrives they’re using are not even a fast make, but normal standard 7200 RPM SATAs. That’s half the speed of what most small companies would consider putting in a server.

It’s amazing what Google have done over the years, they really are geniuses when it comes to computing.

Here are some key secrets :

• The use motherboard t specially made for them by Gigabyte.
• Each server has two processors which do not differentiate between brands such as Intel or AMD
• Each  server has its own 12-volt battery to supply power if there’s a problem with the main source of electricity.
• It also Reveled that it’s data centers are composed of standard shipping containers–each with 1,160 servers and can consume 250 kilowatts.

The rest of the computer as it remains that we have in our homes with all its popular hardware.
