Last Night in Gamescom 2010 , Sony unveiled two new PlayStation 3 models :160 GB PS3 Slim and 320 GB PlayStation 3 console. The new 160 GB PS3 Slim is available at same price of 120-GB PS3 Slim model,which retails for $299 ,while a 320GB new PS3 slim will will replace the 250GB model.

Sony has released PlayStation 3.30 firmware update that will prepare the PS3 for 3D stereoscopic gaming and movies. According PlayStation blog the 3.30 firmware update is said to be mandatory , so you must update your PS3 unit if you want to continue playing online.

Quantic Dream’s Heavy Rain is considered to be one of the most original games to grace consoles in 2010. The release of the game has been confirmed for the 23rd of February and the demo will be releasing on 11th February 2010.
Although Heavy Rain was on the Store and it will get UN-locked unless you complete the Four Days challenge. But if you follow below steps you can access the Demo now itself.

Sony has patented a new technology that allows the PlayStation 3′s Cell processor to understand and process code intended for the PlayStation 2′s Emotion Engine chip.i.e reintroducing PS2 emulation on PS3.
Actually first generation of PS3 had backwards compatibility with the PS2, via hardware and later by software, but later this backward compatibility was phased out to cut cost.
A patent discovered by Siliconera suggests that the backwards compatibility may return to the PlayStation 3.
