AppLocker : Blocks execution of applications

applocker_main
Is it possible to block (automatic) launching of some windows programs like Internet explorer, which cannot be uninstalled ,for example accidentally double clicking .html or .xml file opens IE .The best solution would be through the group policies, but frankly this is like killing flies with a cannon(gun) in most cases.Application Locker comes with a little help with this task.

AppLocker;; is a free application which can prevent access to some application on your PC by locking it. Once installed we can see a default list of commonly blocked programs like IE, MS Office, Notepad, calculator etc.

How to add or remove an application from Applocker:

applocker

you can lock or add other programs by clicking the “Configure” button to open the configuration window. Type the caption or name of application ,then type the programs executable (file path,) file name and click the ‘Add’ button. For example we can lock Firefox by adding “firefox.exe” to the block list as shown in the above figure. If you wan to remove an application from Applocker, just click “configure” button then select the application in the application list and click Delete button. We can say it is a handy application to prevent unauthorized access to applications on any PC.But as I said in very specific cases the application we can help.Works with all Windows os versions from Win2K onwards

Whenever locked application executed or launched it will display the following message :
Applocker Execution
