After Reliance,Airtel has also joined the Direct-To-Home Satellite TV Services list called Airtel Digital Tv.

Airtel Digital TV will be available in 62 cities in the first phase through 21000 Airtel retail and relationship centers. With over 175 channels, the packages will start from Rs. 2499 for a 6 months subscription with the channel price bands ranging from 99Rs to 424Rs a month.

Airtel Digital TV uses  MPEG4 standard with DVB S2 technology technology to provide exceptional picture clarity and high quality audio. This high definition-ready technology also enables delivery of more complex interactive content. Also, Airtel digital TV uses 20 per cent larger dish antenna for better performance during rain. One the most interesting feature of Airtel Digital TV is the inclusion of programmable universal remote allowing users to manage TV and Set-top Box with a single remote.

search option; on screen account meter; last viewed channel in case of power disruption/switch off; and low battery indicator on the screen.

Update: As an introductory offer Airtel Digital TV Silver Pack, with 65 channels will cost Rs 2000/- for 12 months, the monthly tariffs would range from Rs 125 to Rs 424 and Gold package has 104 channels at Rs. 3500 per month
